Hello Net Business Group Customer,

We’ve been putting it off, but it is now time that you add SSL Security to your website hosting.  You will be forced into this soon, so we’re going to make it as painless as possible.

Websites that take private information (such as ecommerce websites) have protected themselves with SSL Security Certificates to protect the data communicated between a user’s Internet browser and the website.

SSL Certificates are purchased by companies that specialize in providing this level of security, and then installed on the server where your domain is hosted.  Then, your website is configured to load in your visitor’s browsers as httpS:// as opposed to just the http://.   NBG has provided this service to our customers that operate ecommerce sites, or need added protection from hackers.

Times have changed.  The US Government is pushing to create a standard for all Internet connections to be protected, and the major browser companies; Microsoft’s IE, Google’s Chrome, Apple’s Safari, and Firefox are all moving in the direction of enforcing the use of SSL.

How are they doing this?

They are warning users away from sites that are not certified as being protected with SSL.

For example they will warn users that entering data into a form is “Not Secure”, or show a color code system (green/red) for secure and non-secure sites.  Many in the industry feel that this will steer Internet traffic away from unsecure websites (we’ve linked a couple articles on the right if you’d like to read more).

Therefore NBG is recommended that all of our customers add SSL Certificates to their domain.  In the past we’ve charged $395 initial purchase, installation and configuration of the website, and then $199 yearly renewal fee.

To help encourage our customers to protect their websites, we’re offering a discount and plan on saving on cost by doing all of our client’s sites in a single week, which will be much more efficient for us.  We’re planning on doing this the first week of March, so we ask our customers who wish to take advantage of this savings to make their purchase below on or before Feb 20th.

$295 Purchase, Installation, and Website Configuration, then $149/yearly to renew certificate, and cover any additional SSL support during your hosting year.

After Feb 20th, you will certainly be able to purchase this service for our regular pricing ($395, $199/yearly).

SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. It is a protocol which creates a secure connection between a client and the server over which to send information. SSL works by using a cryptographic system that uses two keys to encrypt data.

All you need to do is enter your website name (ie: netbusinessgroup.com) and click on the PayPal button to your right.  It will take you to PayPal’s website where you can pay with your own PayPal account, or just use a credit card (Amex, Visa, MasterCard, Discover).

Please note – PayPal will charge your card $146 immediately, then $149 in 7 days (for a total of $295) and then it will charge $149 in a year, and each year thereafter.  The SSL Certificate is purchased in your domain name, and therefore it belongs to you, and can be moved with your website should you ever change your hosting service.

– If you would prefer to receive an invoice via email that you can either pay online with a credit card or send a check by mail, then just email me and let me know, dave@netbusinessgroup.com.
